Born in Lafayette, Marguerite Justus became interested in her maternal grandparents' language at an early age. She is the author of a poetry collection entitled Génération and works to promote French in Louisiana. She lives in her hometown with her husband and daughter.

Quoi t'après faire, Hibou Hébert? (Whatcha doin', Owl Hébert?) is a children's board book in Louisiana French, sometimes called "Cajun French." With a text based on phrases that adults often say to children, the book is filled with Louisiana artist Cayla Zeek's vibrant illustrations of the state's flora and fauna. Using rhyme and alliteration in combination with common Louisiana names, the text seeks to facilitate reading aloud for French learners, whether they are second language learners or Louisianians who are learning to read and write in their native French.
