Since 2008, Rick Kelley has been an ambassador for the Louisiana Book Festival, performing concerts at elementary schools all over the state to promote reading and invite hundreds of kids to the festival. Inspired by the authors he’s met through LBF, Kelley decided to adapt some of his original songs into children’s picture books. His first effort was Sharing Sharon in 2015, followed by I Read about It in a Book in 2024, which not only promotes reading physical books but also his favorite people, librarians.
