Lake Charles, Louisiana, native Kristie Guillory Edmondson earned a BA in Visual Arts from McNeese State University and then attended University of Louisiana Lafayette, where she earned an MA in Speech Pathology. She has worked in Iberia Parish with the special education office for 20 years as a speech pathologist. Edmondson lives in Lafayette with her husband and twin teenagers. Pelican State Princess Slippers is about Louisiana shrimp boot culture and is her first official publication.

Evie is a Cajun girl who dreams of having her very own pair of white shrimp boots. She learns of all the quirky and hilarious regional nicknames they are called in different parts of Louisiana. When she gets her own pair of boots for her birthday, she’s faced with having to come up with a name for them! What will she call them? 

Pelican State Princess Slippers is a colorful, fashion-forward adventure sprinkled with Cajun French sayings and Louisiana places.
