One Book, One Festival
Inaugurated in 2008, the Louisiana Book Festival's One Book, One Festival discussion group continues at the Louisiana Book Festival. Participants are invited to read the same book in advance and then join the scholar-led discussion with others at the festival.
The 2025 One Book, One Festival selection is a trio of Kate Chopin stories: "At the 'Cadian Ball," "La Belle Zoraide," and "Athenaise." Dr. Gary Richards will once again lead the discussion. The first two stories are from Bayou Folk, and the last one is from A Night in Acadie. Participants can access these stories online or read them in the Penguin Classics edition of The Awakening and Selected Stories.
