The Michael Foster Project
Biography
The Michael Foster Project is a multigenre brass band and was named Best New Brass Band or Performer by OffBeat Magazine in 1999. Bandleader Michael Foster’s work with his group has earned him recognition as Arts Ambassador by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. Foster has visited schools throughout the South speaking about the importance and traditions of jazz music, as well as inspiring students to practice and keep the music alive. The band’s core group consists of Chris Lee on drums, John Gray on trumpet, Terrance Taplin on trombone, Chancelier Skidmore on percussion, Roderick Jackson on saxophone and Michael Foster on sousaphone, electric bass and acoustic bass.
