Katheryn Krotzer Laborde is a writer of prose. Her personal essays about Katrina evacuation and recovery experiences earned her a Louisiana Cultural Economy Grant in 2006; the non-fiction
Do Not Open: The Discarded Refrigerators of Post-Katrina New Orleans was published by McFarland four years later. For her fiction, she has received a Louisiana Division of the Arts Artist's Fellowship as well as the Pirates' Alley Faulkner Society Medal.
