Biography

John Dufresne is the author of two short story collections and seven novels including Louisiana Power & Light and Love Warps the Mind a Little, both New York Times Notable Books of the Year. He has written four books on writing fiction and edited three anthologies. He is co-editor of Flash Fiction America. His short stories have twice been named Best American Mystery Stories, in 2007 and 2010. He is a 2013 Guggenheim Fellow in Fiction  and teaches Fiction Writing in the MFA program at Florida International University.

In addition to his appearance at the festival on Saturday, October 28, Dufresne is also conducting a writing workshop (what we like to call a WordShop) during the day on Friday, October 27 entitled Flash!
