Audrey Ronning Topping is a photojournalist and author of five books, specializing in Asian affairs. Her most recent article and photos of the Dunhuang Temple Caves on the Old Silk Road were published in The World Policy Journal. In 1966 she was the first Western journalist to report from China during the Cultural Revolution. In the 1970s and ‘80s she was a writer and photographer for National Geographic Magazine. She was the first Western journalist to report and photograph the discovery of the Terra-cotta Army in the tomb of China’s first Emperor for The New York Times.
